Slanted i zine issue no. 1, Fall 1997
Slanted i issue no. 1, Fall 1997 - One of the few zines I know of from the late ‘90s #SGVpunk scene. This issue from the Alhambra-based zine featured interviews and profiles of local bands
well-known bands, plus columns that are very SGV-centric. Btw, a page or two might be missing. There was a second and final issue but I never got a copy of it.

Backyard Shenanigans Compilation ('97)
Backyard Shenanigans compilation from ’97 with tracks by ThretningVerse, Naked Aggression, S.M.D., Syphic, AFU, Tongue, StaringProblem, The Jawas, The Genitals, The Padded Cell, Creepshow, and a few other S.G.V. bands; plus Ill Repute, Oppressed Logic, The Missing 23rd, The Fixtures, and more. Thanks to @syphic_sgv for letting me burn the CD, and @loreenangelique for giving me the case that she still had so I could scan them. Playing is “Speed” by The Jawas because it kicks ass and is less than a minute long.
L.D.S., 08.03.03, Ultrazone, Alhambra/ Some Tracks
L.D.S. in ’03 at Ultrazone in #Alhambra. Playing is some of “Anti-Authority.” The 2019 version of L.D.S., which I’m a member of, has its shit together and is ready to play shows. Promoters and bands, please DM if there are any slots we can fill. LINK IN BIO to download or stream this track and 2 others.

11.19.05, La Puente/1.5 Los Vatos Songs
@genocide_express ,ex-#ShitBlasters, sent in this dope flyer he drew for an ’05 #BaldwinPark gig thrown in honor of Johnny from #TheQuifingKunts with those bands, #Skintags, #LosVatos, and #TimmyCumstianandtheTeenChallenge. Timmy Cumstain and The Teen Challenge might be my favorite band name ever. I was able to download about 1 1/2 Los Vatos tracks from a blog @javi_theebarber put up a few years ago. Unfortunately, most of those links from back then no longer work. Playing is some of their song “I Hate the Rules.”

2 One Down Songs/02.21.97, iBrowse Coffee, Alhambra
@poptarte.makeupart sent in this flyer for a ’97 #Dumbstruck and #OneDown gig at iBrowse Coffee on Main St. in #Alhambra, where many local bands played in the late ‘90s. Dumbstruck was
@thelifeofromero on guitar and vocals, Richard Tran on guitar, a guy named Ricky on bass, and who was definitely not Carlos on drums. Two members would go on to form another band that’ll be showing up here soon. One Down was Josh Flippin on guitar and vocals, @omarcrafted on guitar, Pigboy on bass, and Jeremy Conrad on drums.
I used to have MP3s of their demo, but they were on a computer that got wiped. Fortunately, I had put two of their songs on the blog's old Soundcloud.
