This backyard gig on 3.23.96 for Dave Andrews/@dandrews319's birthday was an important event for me. It was the first time I was exposed to punk rock being made by kids just like me. At the time I was a freshman at Don Bosco and heard about the local punk scene from Hector Romero/@thelifeofromero, who began going to gigs that same school year after starting at San Gabriel High School, where most of my elementary school/middle school friends were going. I had seen punk bands at a concert over the summer, but I hadn’t yet felt like being in a punk band was something that was accessible to me. It was also the first time L.D.S. played and the first time I got stoned.
Less than two months later I was L.D.S. new vocalist and played my first two gigs with them in one night.
